Totoro's Forest

Totoro no mori “Totoro’s Foest” was named after the animation movie which was produced by Hayao Miyazaki from “Tonari no Totoro” (My neighbor Totoro) since the village in this movie was modeled in this area, Sayama Hills. We recommend you to watch the movie before you visit this place so that you feel yourself be in the movie. It is mostly like a forest to hike and feel the nature to refresh yourself.
Most of Totoro’s forests are distributed around the area of northern part of Sayama Hills and some museums are located around this area as well to learn its history and folklore. These forests, museums and many of visitor centers located all over the area of Sayama region are connected each other by paths or nature trails.
